Last year the Government announced its decision to create a single unitary authority for Somerset.

This means that Somerset’s County and District Councils are now working together to deliver a new council for Somerset that brings together existing services.

The five councils will also work with partners, City, Town and Parish Councils and residents to create a new council which delivers for everyone.

The change to a unitary authority means that your landlord from April 1, 2023, will be Somerset Council, but the service continues to be provided by the same staff.

Your landlord will still be the council and the services you are receiving from Homes in Sedgemoor will continue in the same way.

You will pay your rent to the council, but the name of the council will change to Somerset Council. You can pay your rent in the same way as you currently do. If you pay by direct debit, it will continue, and you do not need to make a change.

If you would like to change the way you pay, please contact Customer Services on 0800 585 360.
