National Apprenticeship Week 2022

In aid of National Apprenticeship Week, we’ve been busy speaking to our apprentices to hear their thoughts on apprenticeships.

Kaylun, Customer Services Apprentice, said:

“I have lots of responsibilities but the main one is to meet our customers’ needs at the first point of contact, to provide them with an excellent service.

“My day-to-day tasks include helping the team with calls, responding to emails, notice to quits, garage application, and replying to our Facebook messages.

“I like being an apprentice because every day is a learning day. While working I’m learning all types of new skills and qualities, which help me progress. Whilst on the other hand studying and college meetings help me learn about different ways to approach a situation, which can benefit me or the customer.

“I enjoy splitting my time between learning and working because I’m getting to experience different tasks each time.

“I would recommend an apprenticeship to others because it’s a great way to learn new things because you are working which helps you to adapt within the working environment, but you also have your college days which helps you take a break from work while you are learning about the topic in which the apprenticeship is about.”

Lucy, HR Support Apprentice, has also enjoyed her apprenticeship. She said:

“My role includes a wide range of different responsibilities, but recruitment is a large part of my role.

“Homes in Sedgemoor is a great place to be an apprentice as everyone is always more than willing to help me succeed and having such supportive colleagues has helped me massively.

“The balance between work and learning has been great and it has been super helpful being able to split my 20% off the job time over different days.

“I think everyone should consider an apprenticeship, not only do you earn while you learn but you also gain experience which will be incredibly beneficial once you have finished your studies.”
