Waste collection changes at your home

Improvements to communal recycling are coming from Monday as part of expanded Recycle More waste collections.

All affected Homes in Sedgemoor tenants should have recently received a detailed letter, setting out what the changes mean for you and the property you live in.

That includes those with large shared bins for recycling and/or rubbish who live in flats, houses of multiple occupancy and retirement developments. Lost, recycled or never received the letters? Check first with your neighbours.

All sites are different so changes are on a case-by-case basis following a detailed review of available space.

Somerset Waste Partnership is offering either:

  • Full Recycle More individual kerbside collection with a green box, black box, food waste bin and Bright Blue Bag to recycle these weekly: plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays; tins, cans, aerosols and foil; glass bottles and jars; cartons and Tetra Paks; paper and cardboard; food waste; small household electricals and batteries; wearable clothes and shoes.

Or:

  • New bins to add cardboard and plastic bottles, pots, tubs and trays to materials already taken.

Any existing food waste collections will continue, and all communal residents will be invited to request one if they have space and a suitable curbside collection point can be identified. A few properties with no space for recycling will see no change.
