Penlea House
Thirty social housing apartments are being built on Rhode Lane, Bridgwater, following a deal between Sedgemoor District Council and contractors Classic Builders.
Sydenham Garages
The project looked to identify garages that were being underused and found sites including two off Avalon Road, one of Saxon Green, and one off Chamberlin Avenue, where existing garages could be demolished and replaced with 14 highly efficient homes.
Bigwood Estate
Twenty-nine homes are being built on the Bigwood and Staple Printworks site in Bridgwater town centre. The printworks was destroyed in an arson attack in 2007 and has been vacant ever since.
Originally planned as a private open market development of townhouses, the entire site has been bought by Sedgemoor District Council and will be available at what is designated a ‘Social Rent’ through social housing provider Homes in Sedgemoor.
Cricketers Farm
This £3 million contract is to provide affordable rental housing with development company Strongvox Homes for 16 new homes on land at Cricketers in Nether Stowey.
